Advocacy2009 Auction CatalogAdvocacy is central to CoSN's work on behalf of school districts and ed tech corporations. CoSN is a recognized leader in supporting legislation and advocating for funding to support the integration of technology into education. In support of CoSN's advocacy efforts and to raise awareness of the necessity of funding for technology in our nation's schools, CoSN will host CoSN's 5th Annual Auction for Advocacy to be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Hilton Austin, TX from 5:30-7:30 PM. CoSN has accomplished a great deal through our advocacy efforts this past year:
When the FY 2008 President's Budget recommended $0 for education technology, 10,000 messages flooded Congress. RESULTS: In December when Congress and President agreed to slash nearly every education program, Title IID was maintained the same level of support as past year. This was a major victory for the education technology community and companies like yours that have technology solutions to improve teaching/learning. CoSN has the opportunity over the coming year to do even more and help set a positive agenda for a new president, their administration and the 111th Congress. CoSN, working in partnership with ISTE, SETDA, and SIIA have developed legislation that will revitalize the education technology provisions when congress reauthorizes No Child Left Behind Act. The Achievement through Technology and Innovation (ATTAIN) bill has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. The ATTAIN Act was included almost completely in both the House and Senate draft versions of the No Child Left Behind draft reauthorization. We need your help to set the agenda for the future. We have the vision. We must mobilize the education community in support of this effort. While you have many requests for financial support, I can think of no activity that could be as critical to the future of education technology, or as important to the continued vitality of your business. Therefore, we urge you to become at Corporate Friend of Advocacy. Below you will find information describing the various ways that CoSN will recognize your commitment to this critical effort. |
